Hi All,
I wonder does any one know of the reason for the one or two piece grill around the horn? It seems that it only allows dirt, dust etc. to collect in the horn compartment. The only possible reason I can think of is to allow light into the horn compartment when opening the back.

It is probably there so that the Amberola does not violate Victor's patent where the horn is in a separate compartment. This way they could claim that the horn and "turntable" were in the same compartment. The same holds for the Diamond Disc Phonograph.
