Re: phonograph heaven
I sure wish this Phono stash was closer to me. It looks like there are some nice machines under all that dust. I even see a Victor RE-45 Radio/Phonograph. It worries me the way the ceiling is peeling and crumbling. If the roof is leaking it won't be long before this will all be a pile of junk!!

Re: phonograph heaven
This little machine just arrived in Tennessee from Phonograph Heaven. Jim was great to deal with, honest, and offered an awesome early example of the Victor Type R. He had a friend visiting Gatlinburg, TN and the friend gave the phono a ride down South! If I were looking for larger machines, I'd definitely be calling him back-unfortunately I am at my current floor model limit. Very happy with the R, though!

Beautiful machine! The dealer tag shows an address...and if you look at it today, here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@39.2910672 ... 56!6m1!1e1
you can probably guess that the red building was where the dealer had their shop.

Very cool! Thanks. A little more info about the dealer's history can be found here: http://www.germanmarylanders.org/profil ... ing-retail I've been looking up info tonight.
I wonder how long this style horn was made until they switched to the brass bell? The serial # on this one is 4862. Any guess?

Hi Mattrx,
It looks like you got yourself a real nice condition Vic R. It is sad to see all those large up-rights in need of a new home. Most of us just don't have the space for too many large machines.

Re: phonograph heaven
That's a nice looking Victor R. Most that I have seen for sale were too rough to consider. It is such a different machine from the other Victors, with an oxidized metal top and metal corner braces. Does anyone know any history about that model or a rationale for its unique design?
