Re: Peter Wall MIA????
He called me on 8/30 to say he was getting back home and working again and assured me mine would be done in a week. Still nothing and have tried calling a few times over the past 2 weeks for an update and not had any luck getting in touch with him. Glad to hear he's made good on a few of the things he's had in for repair, hopefully mine is still in the queue as well and his health is on the upswing.

Wanted to post an update to say that I received my reproducer back today and it sounds very good. Hopefully he's working through the rest of his backlog and the others who are waiting will get theirs soon as well.

Re: Peter Wall MIA????
Sometimes it puts our patience in check....often today in this fast paced, automated world, we often forget that many of the people in this hobby must time to make the parts, reproduction cylinders and provide the repairs. It's all done by hand, time consuming and sometimes frustrating.
We have to remember for most people in our hobby that make parts etc., its not their sole source of income, its more of a sideline or hobby.
Of course, there are personal and health issues that come into play that can slow down the process.
Aside from this, we are anxious and excited to get our machine restored and its understandable...I guess this is what makes the hobby interesting sometimes.
Again, as I have said many times Peter is among the best at these Orthophonic rebuilds. I consider him an expert, similar to that of the legendary Bob Waltrip, who made the Edison Diamond Disc diaphragms.

Re: Peter Wall MIA????
I guess when someone ships a $300+ brass Orthophonic reproducer across the country to someone they've never personally met, their patience does wear down after a while, when they send an email and make a phone call politely inquiring about progress, every two or three weeks for five months, with no reply.
The one year wait to get my reproducer back was not the issue with me.
It was the almost five months of non-response.

I agree with all you have said, the worst part for me was although many defend his work, mine came back totally ruined. The sound was GONE.. When I contacted him his response was that it sounded good when he had it.. Sorry, that isn't possible. I think its a crap shoot as to what kind of result you may get. I won't be tempted to try again.gemering wrote:I guess when someone ships a $300+ brass Orthophonic reproducer across the country to someone they've never personally met, their patience does wear down after a while, when they send an email and make a phone call politely inquiring about progress, every two or three weeks for five months, with no reply.

Wow, what a contrast with Steve Medved who bends over backward to ensure you're happy with his work.

Does Steve Medved work on Orthophonic reproducers?
