FOR SALE: early Edison Home with weighted carriage arm $2200

Post by MicaMonster »

Early 3-digit serial number #981. Automatic reproducer, badged crank, brass mandrel, earliest lightweight motor made with ultra-thin cast iron (after the brass "clockwork" motor). The upper casting has the carriage rest, early patent plate with cut-corners, cast iron mandrel pulley. Short throw motor on-off lever. Carriage has weighted half-nut.

Cabinet is original to the machine and has excellent light color, and original finish. For some odd reason, the lid had no decal. I have added a reproduction decal, only top coating with fixtive. The bedplate decoration was all but gone, so I added reproduction decorations and aged them to match the decoration on the upper casting.

$2200. I can deliver to Stantons in November, or to Wayne NJ in the Spring.

From what I have read, some of the very early Homes did not have decals.
