Edison long play kit updated

Hi All,
More than 40 years ago I bought an Edison long play modification kit from the now deceased Alvin Abramowitz. For the last two or three weeks I have been looking for it in the basement to no avail but last night Eureka!! moving some things around on shelving I found still in its original box with red print label (;) indicating new lines: NOTICE; This Long Playing Equipment MUST be Installed; by the Edison Dealer or his Service Man.; Thomas A. Edison, Inc.; EDISON LONG PLAYING EQUIPMENT; for; Double barrel phonograph; Antique- 46119 . Now I need to get the installation instructions. HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!
The photo 5033 the next to last is the label on the box.
The photo 5034 the one above 5033 is shows the items in the box with the bail removed that holds the reproducer in the cradle.
The photo 5035 above 5034 shows the box contents with the reproducer removed so you can see the tissue paper three layers thick each sheet is 0.001 inches thick.
The photo 5038 show all the items removed from the box and the two screws to attach the reproducer holder out of their envelope.
Photo 5039 shows the under side of the reproducer with the tag board spacers protecting the diaphragm and or limiting the motion of the weight relative to the body of the reproducer.
The last photo 5041 shows the top of the reproducer removed from the box.

p.s. The kit contains the long play reproducer with a 0.050 inch cardboard spacer shaped like the reproducer body with a slot to accommodate the silk link between the diaphragm and the stylus bar with two additional smaller pieces of 0.50 cardboard each between the aforementioned cardboard and the weight one at the tail end and one at the limit pin end. There was several layers of paper under the weight and stylus but the wooden cradle would keep the stylus from the bottom of the box so I think this paper is to protect the finish of the weight. A spare reproducer support to be held to the wood phonograph case by two screws supplied in an envelope. The change gearing and associated long short switch and lever the support of which is held to the motor board by two set screws. The wooden cradle has 6857 written in pencil at the limit loop end of the cradle. The box is corrugated cardboard that is normally used for boxes.

LP is indeed very interesting~ Here is mine. Unfortunately, I don't have a holder for that extra reproducer. However I don't see any difficulty of playing a less perfect LP record all the way through. Not as miserable as most people think it would be...

Hi fran604g and all interested,
I am not very computer or digital camera clever because my wife of 14 years has taken over the camera tasks. My deceased wife allowed me to be the master of the old Nikon film camera but the first trip my new wife and I made she decided that I would look too much like a tourist with that big camera around my neck. Therefore, I should get her a small digital camera that she could carry and use discreetly. She still looks like a tourist when she whips it out to take a photo. but when mama is happy every one is happy!
To day she will be at a scrap book crop all day and I do not expect her home until after our normal dinner hour. I will try to get her to assist me to photograph the box and its components in various stages as I disassemble same to post on the forum. This will not happen until tomorrow or later but I will prevail.
Thank you all kindly I have been very pleased with my membership and emails to the forum. All of you have been very helpful and I am rapidly learning to not buy things on eBay as they generally do not measure up to my expectations regarding their advertised quality. I find among others Larryh and Steve God sent gifts to us all and I am sure you all agree with that.

I play my LPs quite a lot and don't have difficulty with most of them. The key in most cases is to take a pen knife and widen the spindle hole so that you can then adjust the position of the record under the stylus via a few test rotations by hand. You'll still encounter the usual skips that you might need to jump the stylus over, but the improved tracking will make for a better listening experience and extend the life of the record.

Also, place a business card under the part of the record where the stylus might be dipping (relative to the rest of the record). This also helps minimize "swish."
