Pair o' Polys

Post by TinfoilPhono »

Mark Albertson stopped by my house this afternoon with his latest acquisition, an Edison four-clip Standard with Polyphone attachment and Bacigalupi decal. It's a twin to my own so we set them side by side for comparison. I doubt there have been two of these together since Bacigalupi's store was wiped out in the 1906 earthquake.

I was hoping the serial numbers might be close (Mark owns a Berliner lever wind that is only one number away from my own!) but there was a 10,000 difference.

Here are the twins. Mine's on the left.

Rene,

Now that's a picture you won't see too often, if at all again.

Looks like one of the decals was put on after a bad day.

Yes, it looks like your decal was applied during the quake. Wonderful photo. Jerry

Actually, I've seen more Bacigalupi decals applied at an angle than straight. ;)

I'd be happy with that decal upside down. Thanks, Jerry

Beautiful! Did you play them both to see if they have the same sound?
