interesting photo

Post by TinfoilPhono »

This appeared on the cover of the November 1955 issue of Radio & TV News, which included the first installment of a series of articles called "Evolution of the Phonograph" by Oliver Read and James Riley. Those were the precursor to the 1959 book From Tinfoil to Stereo by Read & Welch.

Someone did a decent job of staging and "old-timey" scene. However I find it interesting that whatever the era in which such pictures or movies are set, the models or actors always look like the era they actually come from. Somehow this woman has a 1950s vibe despite the gilded age attire and setting. Now we see 2000s actors trying to look like they're from the 1950s!

The vibe is the hair and lipstick. Nothing more. She's doing a credible job of looking as though she's enjoying that "coon" cylinder.

I would say hair and lipstick. I am sure she can't knit or crochet too long...She will have to get back up and change the record unless it has a repeater.
