Strange copper diaphragm found in diamond B

Post by Victrolaboy »

Rebuilding a diamond B and found that it had a copper diaphragm installed by a previous rebuilder decades ago. Any thoughts? The link appears to be homemade.

How did it sound? Was it noticeably different, or similar enough that you weren't expecting anything when you started the rebuild?

It sounded horrible, very low volume. Probably just because of the crude link. None of the R,S,L,M,N,O reproducers I've seen have a diaphragm like this. This diaphragm is also much thicker than a real Edison copper diaphragm.
