I was wondering if any forum members have any recommendations on who rebuilds reproducers. I have never done it before and I would rather send it out to someone else. Any recommendations would be really appreciated.

You don't say? I had my Edison Model C sent to them and it took them nearly three months to rebuild it and send it back!dutchman wrote:Mind if I ride along, I need one done as well. Sent mine to APSCO in February thats the last I heard.

At least you got it back
Wonder what happened to APSCO. As far as having your reproducer rebuilt I guess Ron Stiko or George Volema would fit the bill. I have used both over the years for spring replacements and bought a repo back bracket from Ron for a Victor 4-3 which was really nice. I'm sure these two names will be recommended by others. Have a good weekend

I am definitely NOT mechanically minded, but I got a kit and instructions and rebuilt my own. It was kind of fun and I learned a bit about how it works. I did send out my Orthophonic sound box though. That was beyond my meagre capabilities

I recommend that you contact Ron Sitko. He rebuilt an Exhibition Reproducer for me and it is just great.

If you get the Complete Talking Machine book by Eric Reiss, there is an article on rebuilding the Exhibition and other reproducers. It is very easy to follow. That's how I learned to do this. This book is the "bible" for phonograph repair or restoration.

I can't imagine not doing it yourself. You will be surprised how easy it is.bigshot wrote:I am definitely NOT mechanically minded, but I got a kit and instructions and rebuilt my own. Having dealt with APSCO first hand by going to their home (within an hour of my house) I will never do that again.dutchman wrote:At least you got it backWonder what happened to APSCO. I got a lot of help from this excellent guide, it takes you step by step along the rebuild - with pictures. Mine turned out just great! I never dreamt they could sound that good. Good luck! It really isn´t that hard, just take your time!/ Snal
