Just a comment on the styling of the Pooley. It's fairly evident to me that some anonymous (?) designer at VTCo. (?) took the lid of the Pooley, turned it over, hollowed it out, sharpened the taper of the corner angles, and voila! the familiar shape of the IX, XI, etc., etc., etc. The hollowed lid meant that the motor board could be moved up out of the depths to a shallower position, affording easier access to the turntable and arm. All things considered, it proved to be a smart move, and turned an ungainly design into a practical instrument with very wide buyer appeal.

I'm sure some know-it-all (who probably wasn't even bidding on it) told the seller it was worth more, so it got pulled and re-listed. If I were the high bidder, I'd certainly be a bit torqued off.
