Vertically-challenged Brunswick "Hampton" in Texas

Post by barnettrp21122 »

I just noticed this Brunswick Hampton floor model for sale. It has a couple serious bids, but thought I should point out the stretcher and leg bottoms are missing!

Too bad. Maybe somebody's past attempt to get a more "modern" look.

It went from a high boy to a low boy console. :o

But not worth what they are starting the bidding at.

Though the reduction certainly counts as very serious damage to the machine (in terms of historical preservation anyway), I actually like the look of the thing this way, and sound quality shouldn't be much impaired, if at all. It seems as though the deck, in this configuration, would be about the same height as that of a VV-8-35 or a similar low-cabinet phonograph.

In these cases my first thought is always water damage to the legs.
Though lower consoles came into favor back in the day I dislike bending over to wind a machine, and I'm a bit vertically-challenged myself!

Here's one in the Detroit area. Doesn't show the bottom end but still, a reasonable price.
