Victor Horn?

Post by CDBPDX »

Just got this in the mail today from eBay. I've looked around and can't quite figure out what kind of horn this is. Has a Victor decal. The bell opening is about 9" across, stands about 17 ½" tall. Any thoughts?

Thanks! Cliff

P.S. - It came with $16 postage due...

Cliff,

I actually have seen this horn before. At an Antique sho in my Home town. You can see that it has been put together I really think it was a Edison repro horn originally.

new decal and horn was modified. I would send it back if it was sold as a genuine victor horn because it is not. Steve

new decal and horn was modified. The Ebay listing says you have 14 days to return it and unless you like it I would send it back . For 65.00 I think you got what you paid for if you need it to complete a machine. Steve

It's a reproduction horn, judging by the seam you showed in close-up. Also a reproduction decal. Nothing original or correct. I would return it in a heartbeat. Sorry, don't mean to be one of those know-it-all "experts" discussed in another thread but, since you asked...

Thanks for the info. The seller promptly refunded the postage due, and he stated in his auction that it was a barn find and described it pretty accurately so I really don't have any recourse. I'll find a use for it and call it a learning experience.

It is probably unique, that's something....
