Replace a missing banner logo

Post by patrick-l »

Hi to each one of you! :D

I will buy soon an phonograph Edison Triumph model E* without a banner logo on the cabinet. Could you tell me if I can replace his small original logo "Edison" with this logo (repro)? Or is it all simply a heresy?

PS (*Edison Triumph model E phonograph with the black metal 11 panel cygnet)

Thank you very much 4 your answer. ;)

The banner decals were discontinued around 1905, during the model B run of most Edison machines. A model E Triumph should have an Edison script decal. Please post some pictures here when you get the machine.

Thank you for your reply, Jim. However, I happened to see authentic phonographs with the logo Triumph Edison Phonograph. Hovewer, my (future) Edison Triumph model E is dated from ca 1910.

Jim gave good advice. The banner decals were discontinued long before your E Triumph was made. Jerry Blais

That's a Triumph Model A upgraded with 2/4 minute gears, O reproducer and a cygnet horn.

Exactly. If you intend to collect Edison cylinder machines, you need to purchase a copy of the latest edition of George Frow's book "Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion". I'm not sure if it is currently in print, but it can be found. It will be expensive but well worth it. I have the 1994 edition, but there may be a newer one available.

There is an up to date ebook for Apple's ibook app.

I should add it is very cheap especially considering the ridiculous prices people ask for the hardcopy.
