Tone Arm Assembly

Post by toddbowie »

Thanks to a couple of you I have (I think) all the parts I need to reassemble the tone arm on my VV-VI-. I just not sure of the order of putting it together. Where does the bearing retainer ring go. Not knowing the proper names of things I'll try to describe the order I think they go. The tone arm holder, then the bearing ring w/bearings, then the bell ring, then tone arm (the order pictured). It looks like the bell ring has a small screw hole that meets up with a small hole in the tone arm (kind of hard to see in the picture). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I've never assembled on before.

Thanks,

The flared ring should go into the tone arm, and have a brass pin for limiting the motion of the arm. Next put the bracket with the top pin on the horn connection, next the round piece should sit in the back horn connector, and have ball berrings in each hole, next the tone arm on top of the berrings, and then the conical bushing on top in the recess on the tone arm, it should swing back and fourth smoothly.

Thanks, that's kind of how I figured. The brass pin was missing so I had to find a tiny bolt to put in the ring that keeps the tone from moving too far.
