This is a fraudulent listing. Many European collectors are aware of this scam listing.
The machine realized far more than this during the "real" sale.

It's good that you stated you are not the seller and don't know him.. ;).

And I thought to do well!

I will contact eBay by phone in a few hours to report the scam.
I am a collector of old phones and this scam is ultra known.

In the field of phonographs, I am a true beginner, I apologize.

It's a no. 12 and appears to be an excellent example. How did you know the listing was fraudulent, (outside of very little feedback) Gram78?

Because a friend over there was bidding on both these machines during the "real" sale a while back and both went for market price far over these "wonderful" buy it now prices.
You have to be careful when buying long distance these days...

It's not your fault. Scammers like this are hoping to pray on the uneducated and bargain hunters alike.. ;).

Just like the Lithuanian Berliner that seems to appear every once in awhile.

Hello Gentleman's

Well done. You were absolutely right, it is a scam. I did a quick google on a phrase from the auction description.

I found this:

http://www.ebay.it/itm/ancien-pavillon- ... 1587046679 under an other seller name and sold for EUR 2.910,00 on June-30-15 21:06:41 CEST on an other buyer with 52 evaluations. (This announcement is disabled because the property has already been sold and the advertiser removed the ad.)

and an other here: Ancien pavillon horn phonographe Collection Paris ...
www.leboncoin.fr/collection/877416617.htm?ca=16_s
3 nov. 2015 - Il est vraiment en parfait état ,et il fonctionne parfaitement .Pas de marque de fabricant mais de qualité vraiment ultra soignée . - Dimensions ...

I contacted eBay France this morning and I reported them this scam (via Internet and telephone). It remains to hope that they will take my report seriously.

It is not a genuine Pathé 12. It is a cobbled-up machine with the body of a Pathé 12, but it lacks the plate with the identification, and the back bracket and arm are of a Pathé D. The horn is not Pathé, as far as I know: the aluminum horns that Pathé made for disc phonographs have a unique cornucopia pattern, and were called "torsade". And the reproducer is incorrect, it is a later model sold about 10 years after this machine was already taken out of the market.

Such ads asking for bank transfers and refusing paypal are usually scams, and this one is no exception.
