Interesting postcard to look at (Edison)

Post by briankeith »

Old color postcard of the Edison plant in 1911 showing the massive building on the left of the main laboratory - I was just there on Sunday, all that remains there is the small concrete vault #13. And no Ivy growing on the lab buildings any more. Nice old postcard view from before the big fire......

I thought my eyes had gone completely, trying to read the handwriting! Is that Swedish?

Great postcard Brian.
I spent 12 of my 30 years as a high school teacher/coach/administrator in West Orange.
I was less than a mile from the factory and often stopped in for a visit.

Happy New Year.
I hope 2016 brings many wonderful surprises for us all.

Great card! The handwriting isn´t swedish, it´s danish, I can´t make it all out but it does say: "Our dear little Elsie, thankyou for the card, I´m happy to hear you´re well and happy, I just hung my...... and I picked me 3 blackberries (?)..... dear regards and kisses from Papa and Mama"

Happy New Year to everyone, may it be a musical one! /Snal

I guess I wasn't too far off ... my name is Danish, but I have more Swedish genetic material ( ⅛ Danish vs ⅜ Swedish ) ...
