The architect was Henry Hudson Holly, who had also designed Edison's home Glenmont & other mansions in Llewellyn Park. He wasn't experienced as a commercial designer & after this was completed Edison didn't employ him again

I wonder why? They all seem like nice brick factory buildings......

If I recall it wasn't the appearance but that Holly wasn't experienced with this sort of building and had trouble with the technical specs. Anyhow, Edison couldn't use Holly for most of his later buildings because Holly died in 1892.
