That's right!!. One of the purposes of this forum is providing and receiving information about this hobby with the hopes of discovering something new... :).

I have a early Universal (Bryans cross of gold speech) that is pressed from a very soft, somewhat flexible brownish material (probably Celluloid). The suggestion of a early prototype record has been made by leading record experts.

This exact pressing (same stamper) also exists in regular shellac material.
