WANTED: Edison Standard Suitcase Case Bottom Board
I'm needing the bottom board for an early Edison Standard 2 clip. If nobody has one, I can have one made if someone would be kind enough to give me the measurements and a close up of the edge design Thanks, Jan

Hi Jan,
Here are some pictures of my early 2-clip Edison Standard Suitcase serial #S283 and it case. The measurements of the bottom board are 8 5/16" x 11 13/16". Hope this helps if you need anything else let me know.

Thanks Rich. That will definitely help. Is it ½" or ⅝" thick? Also, can you tell me how the reproducer linkage was attached to the glass diaphragm? There is a little metal disc there. Was it glued? If so, what kind of glue? Your machine is very nice and I really like the cylinder cabinet. Jan

Yes Jan the link was attached to a shoe that was attached to the glass diaphragm with a drop of shellac. When rebuilding them today Steve Medved uses STRATENA. He says that this works the best. Here is a picture of Automatic #64762 that is in Standard S283, and Automatic #2573 the lowest number Automatic reproducer known.

Those are very nice. The one I have is S10850 and reproducer 90285 so quite a bit later than yours. Can you tell me how thick the bottom board is? Thanks for all your help. Jan

Could that first measurement be 8 ⅝ ? Mine is a little later, so that could also account for the variation.
Regards,
Martin

Hey Martin,
Measured it very carefully and it is exactly 8 5/16". Just double checked it and it still 8 5/16".

Thanks for double checking, Rich. I re-measured mine and it's still 8 ⅝ ". I guess I'm not terribly surprised that there is some variation. I guess what this points up to Jan, is that if you have the baseboard made, it would be a good idea to base it off the existing box. The box on mine is 7 ¾" deep (my case is the one without the bead on the upper lip of bottom case).
If your machine is #10850, Jan, you got a nice machine there. It's well worth the effort to bring that one back. Good luck and keep us posted!
