Hey guys, I have a friend who recently aquired a Victor R that has surface rust on the metal oxidized copper surfaces. Is there a way to remove the rust without harming the copper finish? All help greatly appreciated.
Regards, Wes

Re: RUST REMOVAL
Without abrading the surface (which you cant do in this case) you can try phosphoric acid (ospho) on some area not visible. Hydrochloric acid (muriatic) is very fast on rust but will probably ruin the plating
just as quickly.
just as quickly.

Re: RUST REMOVAL
I usually use EvapoRust for all my rusty parts. It did a very good job on some gold plated parts that I had, and it always works well on my nickel plated parts.

Re: RUST REMOVAL
I´ll got very good resluts with electrolytic rust removal. It doesn´t harm the finish.
