I recently acquired a early 20th century postcard in the US that pictures four sailors with two cats and this....!!!
Is this a Johnson hand wind "D"..???. Since the "D" was only available for a very short period...I am surprised it may have been used in a period postcard.
Thoughts please..??.
What Machine is this..??.

To me it looks like a Johnson A. It is pretty hard to tell from the fuzziness if the picture but that what it strikes me as. Do you know what year the postcard was made? Does it have the date it was mailed on it? It looks like it has that metal spring and gear cover like the Johnson A does.
