This is a late electrically-recorded Edison disc. These, especially dance records, will command high prices.
The good condition is an added incentive for buyers.

Wow, prices are less than ⅓ what they were a decade ago. My wife found a load of late 51000 series dance band DDs in an antique store on the Oregon Coast in 2006 and I flipped the duplicates of what I already had in my collection on eBay. The Golden Gate Orchestra ones all sparked bidding wars and cracked $350 per disc.

A dance record title would usually be labeled as a fox-trot, waltz, or other. Some would have a vocal refrain. Major labels recorded well-known dance bands. Edison's were generally 2nd-tier, in my opinion, when compared to Victor's or Columbia's. Things got a bit better near the end of the era, after Charles Edison took over (again, my own opinion!)

You are right....Looking at today's prices I often think I am dreaming about the price wars from 2006-2010 on ebay. I snagged some Edison 52000 for 50-100 each. Even some of the hot 51000 series were well ovr $ 30.00. The most I paid was for a record from Charley Hummel, of Halllujah! by Golden Gate for $ 166.00. Today, I would struggle to recoup 50.00.

I wonder why these bidding wars on Edison DD's have subsided?

About 30 years ago I ran across a stack of about 20 needle cut Edison records and when those and the late diamond disks were selling for crazy amounts I sold all of those needle cut records off and a few late diamond disks I had. Most of the bidding on those and the late Edison disks I had, was between 3-4 bidders. I would guess once those guys had copies of all of that stuff they weren't interested in a second copy. It's the same thing even with machines like the Opera. A nice example of those was up around $10,000 at the time and I saw Victor VI's bring even more. How many people honestly have that much money for this sort of thing? And some of those machines really aren't all that rare. Some of the records may be, but I also don't think those late diamond disks hold up all that well because of how loudly they were recorded. Especially if you are using one of those Edisonic or Dance reproducers. That extra weight is hard on the records I think. I've been told the later diamond disks have a softer surface to help with surface noise. I don't know if that's really the case, but after you wipe out a passage on a $350 record and turn it into a $10 copy, you probably get a little gun shy about buying more! And you find out that 4000 plays or whatever it was that Edison claimed you could play his records with no noticeable surface wear might be a bit of a fiction..... lets say.
Oh well, I'm kind of glad it's settle down some. And if you think this is bad, WOW have player pianos gone over a cliff price wise!

That's right! I've looked at a couple of beautiful oak player pianos here in Arizona for under $500.00 one with 100 rolls and restored a few years ago-it worked great! But after I dragged my wife to see one and she looked at me and said "so which victrolas are you going ton sell" I've been kinda quite about it....
