Edison - included with phonograph ??

I've never seen a "bottle" of Edison grease. Tubes and jars, but never a bottle. Was this a typo?

I've wondered about this, too. For a while, I considered that there may have been some confusion between the company's idea of what exactly constitutes a "bottle" and a "jar".

I still don't quite understand their descriptions entirely.

I recognize the grease "jars" as the small "milk" or amber glass containers we frequently see, as I have pictured below.

Another relevant point I should make is: the "grease" remnants in both of my jars is actually more the consistency of what I consider to have been heavy gear oil.

My friend Jerry Donnell gave me one of those milk glass jars of Edison grease when I got my C-250.edisonplayer

I have also found these small Edison grease jars in very dark blue - almost black glass, beside the usual milk glass and amber glass.... And I agree that the so-called grease is really like a very thick oil. Note: some of the lids have the paper labels and other lids (aluminum) have the information painted on. I wish there was a way to date these little jars (?)

I wonder if the lids with the ink stamped label might be the latter version jar, or just for different models signifying a different lubricant specification? Or maybe just whatever the purchaser found the cheapest?

Who knows...

I'd love to come across a blue one.

Maybe one day someone will come across some archaic factory memo showing the vendors and noting their colors. I hope I live long enough!
