Edison Amberola 75, is it complete ?

Post by Dave Cawley »

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121871878401

Is this machine going to play 2 and 4 minutes cylinders ?

I can't see the gearbox change ?

And I thought you needed two reproducers, one for 2 minute and one for 4 minute ?

I have an Edison Standard that is 2 minute only and want to play both and am not experienced on an 2/4 minute models (so far!)

Thanks

Dave

The 75 is a 4 minute machine only.

Ah, that would account for it.

Thank you

To be precise: it is for 4 minute celluloid cylinders only. Wax Amberols would quickly be ruined by the Diamond reproducer.

Hello,
The Amberola 75 is a great machine for playing 4 minute Blue Amberols plus you have three storage shelves that can hold up to 75 cylinders.

Any wax cylinders the seller has are ruined if he has played them even once on that machine. They may make some noise, but they are ruined.

As has been stated, this machine is for playing 4-minute indestructible cylinders only.

"Edisone" - the Diamond C reproducer does indeed look odd; it looks as though there's been some work done to it and the horn connection, at some time in the past. That being said, £399 is not a bad price for a machine which is quite scare in the UK. Although if I were interested, I make sure I had a look at it first.

"Dave Crawley" - if you're after a 4-minute player, there is a Fireside Model A which will play both 2 and 4 minute cylinders on Ebay in the UK at the mo. There is only a 4-minute reproducer and it doesn't appear to have a horn but apart from that.....

Hi Tim

Is this the exact one ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221999631292

I can't see the stylus, is the image showing there is, or isn't one ?

Also, can you tell me how you change the tpi from 2 to 4 minute ?

Thanks

Dave

As said in previous posts this machine and any Amberola with a diamond stylus reproducer is only intended for playing four minute celluloid cylinders. Jerry

My mistake. I didn't realize we had shifted gears and were talking about a Fireside. Jerry Blais
