First Union Post of 2016

Post by winsleydale »

Hey everybody, I have been thinking about Union this year since... well, since Union last year. I feel like there were a lot of Forum members there who I missed because I couldn't identify them. I'm almost certain that this has been done before, but I'm posting a name tag that I made for the 2016 show in case anybody wants to use it as a template. (The font I used for my names is Cooper Black)

I didn't bother to actually measure whether or not this will fit into the little pocket lanyard that they gave me at the '15 show, but I'm gonna wear it on my chest, anyway. That way it will always be facing forward.

If folks here were to be identified by name, instead of an avatar, that would help.

Also the name tags at Union have a single center attachment to the neck loop. Thus, at any given moment, approximately 50% of the tags are flipped around and thus showing a blank paper. For years I've suggested to the Donley's that they use a tag that attaches at both ends or to print double-sided tags. I guess maybe they stocked up and bought zillions of the old tags at some point in the past.

I normally put my business card on the other side and then that at least shows.

Exactly, that's why I'm not putting it in the little sleeve myself. I was thinking about having a pin or badge made. Then I could just keep it to wear every year.

Revolutionary Greetings, Comrade Wingleysnail!

After seeing your glorious pronouncement, I was inspired by your fervor and have taken it upon myself to commission production of a beautiful badge for you, to be produced by the Fourth Peoples' Revolutionary Badge Collective, in Irkutsk (FPRBCI).

I am informed by the chairman of the FPRBCI Production Committee that the badge has been especially added to the Five-Year Plan for the Collective, and will be ready before the end of calendar year 2021, with your name misspelled. It will of course retain the standard hammer and sickle design element, which although no longer in current favor, retains its classic appeal (and is widely known to be a personal favorite of yours).

The badge will be made of high quality burlap, and although likely illegible, the printing will have a 50% chance of not being reversed.

Okay, after forgetting about this for a long time, I am back with a template!

So here's a little information about the file:

- This is a .mp3 file, the first thing you should do is change the extension to .svg (I would have uploaded it as .svg, but the Forum won't allow it)
- The program you need to open it is called Inkscape, it can be downloaded at https://inkscape.org/en/download/

The reason I chose to use such an odd file in such an obscure program, is because the program is free and it will work on any computer.

If you do not have Inkscape, you will need to download it at the link given above. Choose the download that fits your computer (Linux, Windows or MacOS)

If you have any questions, need any help, or want me to do it for you for whatever reason, shoot me a PM.
