I saw this earlier today. It started at $9.99 and within a few hours is already up to almost $200. Considering how much Crapophones go for on shopgoodwill, this real external horn machine will probably bring a small fortune to GoodWill Industries of Southern California

Well, it seems like a fair deal, but who knows if there is even a motor inside. I'll let you know when it arrives in a few days. I figured worst case is there is no motor/wrong motor, crank, elbow, or reproducer inside. Then I have a $250 back bracket and a $100 cabinet. So, I break even. Hey, Columbus took a chance!

I received the Vic III today. It was well packed and no real surprises. The motor is original and clean (but dry), the original crank was inside, and there was a surprise Columbia tonearm/reproducer inside. I don't know what model but a short one. The cabinet is in bad need of restoration as is the back mount. Overall good deal and good project. Very cool dealer tag from Los Angeles. I have bid on other Goodwill auctions and all with good results. I like their auctions.

The Vic III is almost done. Good enough at least for a photo op. I found the missing corner column here on the Forum and Gregg Cline did an outstanding job on the back bracket. As it turned out the motor was untouched and runs perfect. It looks like a "low mileage" model with little to no wear on the gears. The finish was shot, but I saved the original color/stain. The horn was a spare I had and yes, before I hear someone point out the aluminum elbow, yes, it's a cheap aluminum elbow. I'm looking for an original. I know I could have made money on it by parting it out. It costs a lot to do the plating, and value of a horn and elbow. But, it's worth saving them when you can, I think. Thanks for looking. Joe
