Gram-o-phone record
I just recently purchased some more early records and this one was in the bunch. Some of you have probably already seen this but I thought the lower sticker on the back was interesting.

Nice disc.
The blue lettered sticker does not show up often, and can be found with either Consolidated or Eldridge R. Johnson attributed at the bottom.

I figured if anyone knew anything about this record it would be you George! Thanks for the info. I am always amazed at your knowledge. The record is announced at the beginning and just as the music starts you can hear "Berliner Gramophone Record". There is one like this on youtube that has the same announcement.

I'm just making it up as I go along...
That's great! There are only about a dozen titles (possibly less) of the A-series discs that retain the spoken Berliner announcement over the first bars of the music. This was originally done in an attempt to prevent the pirating of Berliner discs by Vitaphone and Zonophone.mcgravy wrote:The record is announced at the beginning and just as the music starts you can hear "Berliner Gramophone Record". Congratulations - - that's a great disc.

I'm presuming you are referring to one of the videos I posted on my YouTube channel featuring an Improved Gram-O-Phone record from my collection with the elusive early olive-grey label:mcgravy wrote:The record is announced at the beginning and just as the music starts you can hear "Berliner Gramophone Record". At the time (more than 5 years ago!) when I recorded and posted this video I was not aware of the information that George recently provided regarding the unusual announcement.

Great example. I think I have A-28. I can't remember if it has both decals. Now I feel like looking through all of mine...
. Good score....

Re: Gram-o-phone record
I have A-77 in the early grey label (The Yarn of the Dates by Geo. Broderick).
It does not have this announcement or the extra label......
