Because every time this machine is offered, (third time running, I believe) I keep offering $750 and getting declined.

Must be some unresolved childhood conflict that makes me crave rejection....

Well I'll see if I can open the can of worms here.

It looks impressive and the $750 may be a little low, but look at what's really there. The AH machine looks fine, but the horn looks like it's from a cylinder machine, the crank looks repro, the horn cradle is repro so it's a good guess the tone arm and support arm are also repro.

It doesn't help the description is vague or the pictures could be better.

In my opinion if they got an offer of half the asking price they better take it if they really want to sell it. ( I think even that's to high)

The horn and elbow are correct, and the traveling arm looks original to me. I agree that the crank, support arm, and cradle are probably reproductions.

This machine has been offered on eBay for a long, long time at the same price - which the market has clearly determined to be too high. That said, $750 won't buy even a typical so-so example at a show.
This is yet another example of an optimistic seller (who does not even know how the machine should be assembled) determined to get his price, regardless of what time and experience are telling him.

To be fair to the seller (no one I know), the 'make offer' option is available. So, they are willing to deal. However, they are not willing to give it away for a ridiculous price.
I can appreciate that.

I'm basing my opinion of the horn on the small end. It sure looks like it has a reduced end for a rubber connector, an original Columbia horn would not have this. Also what ever they used for the curved elbow looks silver not brass. The part of the elbow that actually goes over the reproducer throat could be a Columbia part but I'm guessing a Harvard elbow part was used to make this elbow then soldered to the cylinder horn. Without good pictures or seeing it in person it's hard to tell for sure.

I agree with Wayne, there a difference between offering a fair price and a price that the seller would not respond to.
