Only about 14,000 of this style produced, acc. to http://www.victor-victrola.com/X.htm. Maybe eight bills isn't too high; it's a mighty handsome piece, IMO. It does appear to have been refinished, comparing the outside with the lid undersides. Even so....

I agree, it's a handsome machine, it's rare and the price may not be too high. I have had few opportunities to buy this model and bought 3 of them. I still have the only one offered to me in Oak. I'm guessing that 5 bills will take it home.
