Recently I find this Triumph model E. It comes with this wood horn, but I can't find any reference about it.
Anybody knows if this horn model is made for the Edison factory or for other makers?
Thanks

Re: Question about Edison Triumph Cygnet wood horn
Hello,
It could very well be a Victor Spear tip horn that someone has cut down and adapted into a Edison style cygnet horn!
Pete

That looks to be exactly what it is.

Re: Question about Edison Triumph Cygnet wood horn
The Edison Triumph Model-E is listed as coming with either an oak or mahogany Music Mastet horn. Here is a picture of the Triumph Model-F I just bought with an oak Music Master horn. I've never seen one with an original horn that looks like yours.

I agree, Pete. It looks like a Victor horn that was cut down. I have an Edison Home model "F" with the Music Master smooth horn like Rich's.

Re: Question about Edison Triumph Cygnet wood horn
Just for point of reference....NO HORN WAS MADE BY EDISON COMPANY for the outside horn cylinder machines. They were made by outside vendors. In some cases exclusively for Edison. The Music Master horn style was made by Music Master for Magnavox radio speakers also.

'Musicmaster' wooden horns were made by Scheip & Vandergreif (sp? -- I'm too lazy to reach for a reference book. I've been building a deck all day.)

Thank you for the information. After a closer inspection, I deducter that if somebody cuts a Victor horn, was done many years ago because look like old. Few pictures more...

Re: Question about Edison Triumph Cygnet wood horn
Tragically, the construction of that cut-down horn looks like that used by the Wooden Phonograph Horn Company. This Syracuse, New York firm supplied wooden horns to Columbia for a couple of years, and its products now are rather scarce. Someone butchered a nice horn.

Blau28,
Show us a better photo of the horn's exterior. What little bit I see does not look like a Victor Speartip design on the outside.
(Looks like George might have noticed the same thing...)
