Here we have an exceedingly early Columbia N, designated Bijou in Columbia sales literature. The earliest Columbia N's had "switch" written on the on/off switch, as this one does. Additionally, this one has a very cool fiber gear that I have never seen before. it is clearly original to the machine, and pre-dates the brass/ fiber gear commonly used on the Columbia N. This N is the 326th model N produced by Columbia, most likely in the year they were originally produced - 1895/1896. SUPER EARLY!! This one presents overall well, with honest wear. It plays through a two-minute record. As with most, it has some gear noise. The finish on the machine is really nice with a presentable decal. The reproducer is an early, unmarked aluminum reproducer that plays loud. The motor is strong, and the original crank is wonderful!!
All in all, this is a pretty hard-to-find machine. The early production makes it even more desirable.
The price is $1175.00. I can ship at cost to you, or deliver to Wayne or Stanton's Auction - pre-paid.
No PayPal on this, but checks are fine.
