FOR SALE: New Victor Album covers for 8-35, Electrola - $87

Post by Ampico66 »

After nearly nine months of work on this project with a book binding shop, it's finally finished!

These are glue-on covers printed on imitation leather book binding material using a commercial printing press that foil stamped (embossed) the classic Victor pattern.

Each album cover is a carefully-made replica of the original albums in every detail from color to label text.

If your machine had these originally, you know how important it is to complete the look of the cabinet by having these albums in place.

Please understand these are covers that you glue-on yourself. I am not selling complete replica albums. The glue-on covers are affixed to the ends of existing old albums you have around the house already and they cover an inch back on either side.

Each set contains twelve covers and twenty-four corresponding labels. You will need to affix your labels, then affix your cover to any standard 78 record album. When finished, you achieve the effect seen in my photos below.

Each set sells for $87 with postage included in that price. I have a limited number of these sets and do not plan to make more due to the expense of materials, print set up fees, etc. E-mail me at [email protected]

Below is the text of the labels. I also have "Victor Library" labels available by request.

Incidentally, the doors are off my 8-35 you see in the photos for a veneer repair.

Dark Brown / Light Brown Label AIDA Crawford VOL I

Great idea having these done. I would like a set just to make up some albums that I can actually use! You gotta love the pairings on these. Edison couldn't have done it better. Pls send me a p.m. re how to get a set. Thanks-Bill

Are these actually embossed or did you place something under the "ribs" before you glued them down?

Good question about embossing. Because they were foil stamped on an industrial printing press, the gold pattern is embossed on the imitation leather. The ribs, which are called "cording" are actually bits of bailing twine that I glued on the reverse of the cover prior to affixing it to the album.

Ampico, congratulations on doing such a big project like this. I really admire people like you who do these time-consuming things and then make your work available to restorers. I know when I sold my 8-35, someone was saying they might do this, but I never thought they would really ever do it. Fantastic job and good luck!

Are these still available at the listed price (or at all?) The thread from 2014...not sure why it's popped up again?
