Wow! Put together creativity and electromechanical skill and hard work and lots of time, and that's what you get: Willy Wonka's pianola.
Very good to watch, thanks for posting. And from the text, there seems to be a community of makers of such machines. And I thought that gramophone collectors were the nutty ones, but these people lost their marbles!

I especially liked how he used an easily reconfigurable music roll made out of Lego Teknik block and peg strips!
My issue is that I don't have the CNC gear cutters to make such wonderfulness. If I did, you wouldn't see me emerge from the shop until I finish converting my Sprinter to run on steam power.
What would make it better? If it was operated by a goat walking on a treadmill. That will totally sell me on this.
BRAVO!

There is a home webpage for this machine including several "Prologue" videos on how it was built- fascinating!
This guy thinks in blueprints and complexities... I bet his dreams are amazing.

You should check out the Reliable Steam Engine Company. They have full-case steam engines literally designed to fit in yor car's engine compartment, and with a Sprinter, you'd have room in the back for a boiler AND passengers!MicaMonster wrote:I especially liked how he used an easily reconfigurable music roll made out of Lego Teknik block and peg strips!

Amazing. Was this machine inspired by Animusic? If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google "Animusic" and watch it on YouTube.
