A lot of money for a child's phonograph

Post by briankeith »

I was watching this on EBay since I like tiny shelf size phonographs but $411.00 ++ is A BIG "HOLY CRAP"

I blame the niche market of collectors like me who don't have room for any more regular machines. :)

Another thing that it could be rizbone is that these were made for children,,, and like most children, not all, probably got one of these for Christmas or their Birthday and played with it really hard - so good clean working surviving examples seem to bring a rather high premium on EBay and even at the talking machine shows. I've also been to several antique toy shows and it blows me away on just how much a collector will pay for a pristine toy from the early 20th century

if I recall correctly, this has some connection to Little Wonder records so it might be a cross-collectable

I think this is the Little Wonder Record phonograph,,, but you may be right about the "Baby" phonograph connection (?)

It wasn't produced by the makers of Little Wonder (Columbia) but it is an association piece.
