The Pershing message is interesting, but the flip side, from the ex-Ambassador to Germany, is amazing in its jingoistic harshness. Well worth owning for any history fan or WWI buff.

Poke around online a bit and you can find the audio. Reminds me quite a bit of a guy I've been seeing on the teevee a lot lately, actually, even down to the Noo Yawk accent. Wonder if the Ambassador also wore a dead orange rat on his head.

The U.S. Ambassador to Germany (1913-1917), James W. Gerard, was born in my hometown of Geneseo, New York. He was one of the most prominent Democrats in New York State, serving as a Justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1907-1911, and in 1914 Gerard was the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senator from New York. He defeated some guy named Franklin D. Roosevelt in the primary, but lost the Senatorial election to James W. Wadsworth - another Geneseo native. (Geneseo has a population of about 3000 if the college student population is not counted!)

Google "James W. Gerard" for some interesting reading.

I have his book, My Four Years in Germany, and a copy of his "Nation's Forum" record displayed atop an Edison Army/Navy Phonograph here. :)

Hi Wyatt, Does this record have the original sleeve? If so, I'd be interested in it, if it is still available. I have one of these without the sleeve. If it has the sleeve, consider it sold.
All the best,
Harvey Kravitz
