As long as we are doing marches here I thought I would post this one. I posted a few days ago in another thread in response to discussion about the combination of Columbia cylinders and Edison phonographs. If you did not already see it there... enjoy. Note that this is an "announced" recording. The announcer was born about 100 years after the record was made though.
BTW I forgot to mention that one of the main reasons this sounds as good as it does is that it's got a newly designed Greg Bogantz replacement diaphragm. All the 4 min BA videos on my youtube site http://www.youtube.com/user/Cylinderphonograph on the E Model Triumph also utilise a different Bogantz diaphragm from a few years back. Thanks Greg!
Thanks for the kind words, Bruce. Your need for a replacement for your M reproducer actually spurred me to action to get that design done. It took several attempts, but it turned out better than even I expected. My M now has one of these diaphragms in place. The combination of the M reproducer in 2-minute mode together with the great horn design of the Amberola 1A produces the BEST sounding 2-minute cylinder reproduction that I have ever heard from an original acoustic player.
If anyone else is interested, I make newly-designed replacement diaphragms (they are designed for best performance, not original appearance) for the Edison DD and diamond amberola reproducers as well as this newest design for the Edison O and M reproducers. PM me if you want more information.
