The horn has been repainted, but it is an original Thorens horn from WWI period, as is the back bracket, soundbox, brake & speed control. As I said before, the motor may have been swapped.
Thorens had a bad habit of mixing metals. They'd use a brass brake & back bracket coupled with a steel tonearm & speed control etc. These were nickel plated, but because of the different base metals, the plating will often appear to be different on various parts, even though they're all original to the machine. The soundbox is very obviously a Thorens made box.
The decal decoratings are also typical of Thorens WWI period machines.
Here's a couple different machines from the Thorens 1914 catalogue.
Both these machines show a flower decorated horn, but other models in the catalogue have plain painted horns.
Is this fake?

Re: Is this fake?
again, please, instead of just posting random links, would you post images of whatever you're using the link to direct everyone to? it's just easier, and it creates a better record with which to build this forum (because this forum will surely outlive those links).

This machines not totally original IMO. The soundbox is wrong for starters. I'm not too sure about the horn on this example. I've never seen a Thorens horn with concaved ends to the panels, and none appear in the 1907, 1910 or 1914 catalogues. But as we know, it wasn't unusual for stores to offer different horns than what a machine was supplied with. I think this might be a Paillards horn??

This machine looks right. The horn is a Thorens. It also has an earlier shielded Thorens soundbox than the one on the original machine posted. One of my machines has the same shielded s/b & I believe it dates for around 1917-18.
This machine also has a plate & post Thorens motor, so the motor in the machine currently on ebay may very well be correct for the machine.

Interesting. These must have been very inexpensive. Do any collectors have other examples to share? They are pretty.
