Just out of curiousity: is this an average price for this model these days; Reiss's book states a much higher value, but I realize that prices have dropped considerably as of late.

Rich,

I just wanted to stop by and let you know, I'm loving the BKT! "Kudos" to you for a great "no surprises" experience in pre-buying this and picking it up from you at the Wayne show. :)

As I do for any talking machine I acquire, I did a complete maintenance check and tune up. I dismantled the entire machine, did a complete and thorough cleaning of the motor and top-works, and rotated the sapphire stylus; I found a small chip in the playing surface -- but that may have happened on the trip home by contacting the cylinder that was on it (I should have secured the carriage -- duh  ). Oh well, no harm; no fowl :).

The machine certainly appears to me as if it's completely original. Next week the bed plate will be getting new stripes, a new Gregg Cline "Graphophone" decal, and a fresh coating of shellac (via my friend George Paul). I think I'll leave the horn as-is, and just use some Meguiars on it like you and George were talking about.

It plays like a CHAMP; strong and steady!

I can't get over the volume of this little guy with its spring loaded reproducer, it's louder than any of my Edison machines with a model C reproducer.

Thank you, I'm a happy camper!

I am so happy to hear that you liked the machine. You did a very neice job cleaning it up. Can't wait to see it when it's all done. As you said it is complete and played very nice. I just bought to many machines in the last two months and didn't have the time to clean them all up.
