Springs on soundbox tightness

Hey there. I am fairly new to rebuilding sound boxes. Is there a correct tension for these two springs that sre on the needle bar? (See attached photo). I have not tightened them up all the way, just slight tension. How does this impact on the sound? Is it to adjust vertical compliance.

When I assemble Victor reproducers I use just enough tension to keep the bar from buzzing in use. I'm guessing that more spring tension creates more inertia for the recorded vibes to overcome. Also, you should have the needle bar unscrewed from the mica when setting the tension springs so you can see that there's no "push-pull" bias on the mica when you're done. -Bill
