That looks like a very interesting display. I'd love to see what the larger machine might be (if not gutted) and the smaller tabletop on the small pedestal/table. Not worth the drive to Oklahoma from Memphis for me though.

Oklahoma is too far for me or I would jump at the chance to see that big orthophonic Columbia.

I live in okc but am in Florida visiting family. That shop is within walking distance of 2 auctions I regularly attend. I'll try and remember to have a look at asking prices when I get back. Steve

Re: Columbia 800 Series in Antique Store Spring Sale
A friend of mine was down there and tried to get me to buy it. They wanted $1000 for it a few weeks ago. I really don't know much about Columbia machines and really didn't want to spend that much money on one. He thought it looked pretty nice though. But I don't know if the $1000 was discounted or not.

Oceangoer - There is a "reply" button within each craigslist ad that lets you send an email or in this case they also list a phone number. It is there so you can call/email the shop to find out what the price is on the machine you are interested in. Then you can determine if it is worth your time to go check it out. John

I sold an 810 in good/very good condition for $950 a few years ago. It was shipped to Luxembourg of all places.

Then I am the one that bought it, as I am the only collector in Luxembourg. The crating was excellent, it arrived in great condition, despite almost costing my marriage. It is doing well in my collection, it is one of my favorites.Panatropia wrote:I sold an 810 in good/very good condition for $950 a few years ago. It was shipped to Luxembourg of all places.

I am so happy to learn that! When I got it I sealed all the joints in the speaker that I could reach with brown caulking. That seemed to have improved the sound quite well. Glad you're enjoying it still!CarlosV wrote:Then I am the one that bought it, as I am the only collector in Luxembourg.
