I know this is not about a machine but it seemed the most appropriate section. I have just acquired some cylinders and one of them has "Edison's Gold Moulded records - "Sinyo" " on the label. What does "SINYO" mean ? A google search doesn't come up with anything !!
Thanks
"Sinyo" ??

Re: "Sinyo" ??
Sinclair and Young formed their 'The Phonograph Company' in 1902. Sinyo Records were on sale in London in 1904. From Frank Andrews research for the CLPGS:
Messrs. Sinclair and Young, who had promoted the National Phonograph Company, since acquired by George Croyden Marks on behalf of the American Edison concern, had begun trading in the City of London as The Phonograph Company. They stocked Edison lines and also advertised their own Sinyo Records. J. L. Young was an old hand at recording. In 1893, he used the Phonograph Company as his trading name, after his departure in 1890 from Gouraud and the Edison Phonograph Company of London where he had been general manager.
It looks like they also jointly branded Edison cylinders as well as any they recorded themselves, but I have never seen any of the latter so perhaps they focused on Edison sourced material. I hope this is of use
