I'm just guessing, but I don't think they were. I have a couple of these somewhere and I don't recall specific retailer info on the label and ARLIE makes no mention of them being a specialty label.

As a matter of tangential (is that even a word?) interest, I notice that the design of the label is not too unlike the design for the original electric sign from the Rialto Theatre built on Times Square in 1916. A center pinwheel sending up a shower of arcing sparks to light up the letters (in this case D-A-N-D-Y instead of R-I-A-L-T-O)

I'll try to post a photo if I can get one. I have one in "My Pictures" on the computer, but don't know how to get it to this site.

I picked up about thirty records recently, mostly from the 30's and earlier. One of them is a Dandy record, with Charles Hart on one side, and Charles Brooks on the other. This is the first I've seen of this label. I found very little info on the Internet about this company. The label was not included on a 78 discography website I often refer to. So I searched the Forum and found this thread. Is this a hard to find label? Just to be clear, I'm not asking about value. Something can be quite scarce, but if there is no demand . . . What interests me is all the different labels that I find. Some, such as Columbia and Victor, turn up all the time. Others not so often. Is there a discography for this label?

No, they weren't. They used masters Emerson and other Scranton Button Company issues used. The info I posted on the first page of this thread was all I could find and I've not found anything further, nor do I know who sold them originally, but I'd guess likely a dime store type label.

Thanks to all who have responded. When I did an Internet search a few days ago before finding this thread, I did find a URL that suggested that Emerson/Dandy/Grey Gull may have supplied records to Sears, but that was more suggested than stated. Here's the link: http://www.mainspringpress.com/sears-labels.html. You will need to scroll down to find the Dandy reference. My Dandy label, similar to the one on this thread, provides little information as to the source of the recording. The label states the names of the singers and the song writers (probably legally obligated to do so), but no mention of the orchestra. That's about it. I'd like to find a discography just to know the size of the catalog and where my particular recording "fits in."
