I remember there was a great thread awhile back about various odd or repulsive items found in the bowels of phonographs when getting
them home. This was a first for me...in a IX barrel, after getting a spring out to regrease..out comes 2 tin can lids with center holes coarsely cut, which were under the spring. I don't get what this person was trying to accomplish but odd indeed.

Perhaps he only had a narrower spring to hand, and used the tin lids to make up the space? Just a thought....
