Shouldn't this discussion be placed somewhere else on the forum. Below is the rules for the Yankee Trader section of this site:

1) Ads placed in the Yankee Trader section should be items you have for sale, or are looking to buy.

Aside from that...while your frustration may be justified, what is the purpose of publicly displaying it for the entire forum? Part of preserving your "Honor and Reputation" is knowing when something is a private matter that should be handled as such, between you and the person that offended you.

First, I want to express my sincerest apologies. I am really truly sorry.  Of course, I will pay you for this. I want to thank the other person for thier kindness and generosity. And I want to thank you, Brian. I really appreciate it. Bremerton, WA is a Navy and military town. There a lot of WW II veterans and others who lived through that era. My VFW post will really enjoy playing big band records. I have played my big band records on my large case Victor I with a No. 4 reproducer, and the members really enjoyed the tunes. I had a lot of compliments, and it brought back good memories for these kind folks. Thanks again for everything, and I am really grateful for this opportunity.

I honestly forgot about a conversation that I had 4-5 months ago when I posted the Navy portable in the featured phonograph area. Back then I was undecided about keeping it yet also not too interested in keeping either it since I don't collect portables. So this past week I decided to list a couple of machines that I could bring to the Wayne show on April the 10th. A forum member sent me a PM for additional information and additional photographs, which in turn a sent him almost immediately including a short smart-phone video of the Navy portable playing. Shortly after that PM you contacted me also and jolted my 61 one year old memory of our October-November 2015 conversation. But I had sold it to the other forum member after he looked at the photos I sent him. No deliberate deception, just an honest memory break down for which I am guilty as charged. Now the member I just sold it to told me there would be NO hard feelings if I sell the machine to you. Actually he was very understanding about the whole thing.....I feel that I am being slammed here for forgetting a conversation from 4-5 months ago, and I am actually quite hurt by this since I am a trustworthy honest Christian person. So if it will make ALL parties involved here happy, I will gladly DONATE this Navy portable to your VFW hall and put this whole matter behind me. FREE of charge and I will even pay the shipping to you. Not to sound like a 61 year old big baby, but I am really hurt about this - again a memory lapse and a matter of simple mis-communication. I think I'm going to start collection toasters now instead.

Really?

This whole interchange hasn't been funny at all--and I feel badly for everyone involved. If we're honest, all of us can admit that we've let strong feelings get the better of us at times and as a result we've been less than fair to others. I think Harvey did the right thing in apologizing--and I hope that apology has been accepted--and that all concerned have been talking behind the scenes in crafting a solution.

I for one have come away with greater respect for both Harvey and Brian. They care about the hobby; they're not afraid to lay some things on the time. Given that, I think have more in common than not.

You aren't wrong, and I'm no different - I have had my share of saltiness, and of course I am more than happy that everything was settled and that everybody is gonna leave the table... maybe not happy, per se, but you know, but with an understanding at least. It makes me glad when people can work out their problems.

But at the same time, I have a terrible brain that is absolutely riveted by stuff like this, and I follow it very closely because that's just how I am - I am happy that a positive end has been reached, but the tumultuous process that led there is almost entertaining in a way, for me.

I'm not asking you to approve, but at least now you know why.

You know, W-dale, you're totally right that you don't need my approval! 8-) But for what it's worth, I really dig your response. Real upfront. I'm salty as hell too; crusty; bloody-minded, etc. Yes, it's OK to smile at the mere mortals out there as long as we smile at ourselves as we're no better.

I'd rather that people "mix it up" a bit and then forgive each other--than just pass through life as a bystander.

Plus, how are folks like me (and maybe you) going to contribute meaningfully to this forum when we can't post on Mondays "I had a nice weekend; look at the $10,000 worth of phonographs I bought. NICE HAUL, dontcha think?" :P ;)

My hat's off to you--and to this thread, adieu!
