Exhibition flange screw tap size?????

Does anyone know what the tape size is for the two screws that hold the Exhibition flange on?? 4-36 sound right??

I measure 4-40 on mine. (4-36 is an oddball!) Of course you already know that this is no "standard" machine screw; the shaft is ~13/32" long, and is stepped: the threaded end is ~3/16", the rest of the shaft (the shoulder, I guess you'd call it) is ~¼" and it's not threaded. HTH.

Thanks Henry,,, I have a few extra screws but I'll have to get a tap and drill the other piece out. Should be fun.. LOL

The flange screws are 4-40. fortunately, the taps and drill are fairly common. Here's another tidbit: The little screws and nuts are 1-72. Victor Exhibition needle bars use 0-80, and No. 2, No.4 and Orthophonic use 1-72. This is good to know in case these nuts and screws get lost.

All those small sizes are commonly in use by model railroaders; the proverbial "well-stocked" hobby shop probably carries the taps and drills. I purchased a set of Morris taps and holder many years ago: 00-90, 0-80, 1-72, 2-56. The hobby shop may also carry the screws, nuts, and washers in those sizes.

I'm a model railroader, too. That's how I learned about these miniature screw and nut sizes. It pays to get a miniature tap and die set. These tools are worth thier weight in gold. I really do miss these hobby shops. I have to buy these items online.
