Victor Borgia

Post by winsleydale »

Hi everybody.

I have a very dear friend just across the border in Canada who is giving me his Victor Borgia I as a housewarming gift, but it needs a little work. The radio is shot, and the horn is missing.

I will deal with the radio in time, but my first pressing question would be about the horn. Will a Borgia I be able to take a Credenza horn, or are the dimensions different? It currently has a plywood horn that another of my friends made for it many years ago, but I'd like to get it back as close as I can to original.

I guess an alternative question would be, does anybody have a parts Borgia laying around? (Not likely, but hey, doesn't hurt to ask)

I plan on restoring the Borgia so that I can have it in my business whenever I actually am able to start one.

I'm not certain but I believe it will. Did you get that from either Matt or Steve? If so, I know that machine well.

The Credenza horn is about an inch shorter than the VV or VE 8-30, just like their respective cabinets. So since the Borgia 1 and Borgia 2 cabinets are about an inch shorter than an VE 9-40, I would think your best bet is a credenza horn versus an 8-30 horn for your Borgia.

I had a Brogia II that was missing the horn. While the Credenza horn is very similar, there are some differences. I was able to find an original horn, and felt very fortunate. The Borgia horn just slides into the cabinet, whereas the Credenza horn (that I also had) would have required some trimming and modification of the side panels in order to fit and provide access for the wiring harness and other parts.

Would the modifications have to be extensive or are they pretty simple?

Also, does anybody have a picture of what the grille should look like?
