I watch for Edison foxtrots to come up for sale and since I intend to play them, I don't look for perfect records. I thought I might have a chance at this one, but not even close. The prices that these records are going for makes me think I better give up my Edison Foxtrot search. At least on Ebay. The record sold for $197.85 + $5.00 shipping. Too rich for my wallet.

That's less what I paid more than 10 years for my copy of "Five Pennies".

Talking of record prices in general, I have come by several active dealers, who would almost always have higher price tags on their records at the show than they would bring on eBay. Given that, I have become quite careful with buying above-average records on site without giving it a quick online check.

It is nice to see Hot Jazz gaining in popularity again. We have to thank programs like "Boardwalk Empire", "Downton Abbey", etc., as well as all the collectors who post their records on youtube and other online sites for introducing this music to the younger generations. For years, at the Bix Beiderbecke Jazz Fest in Davenport, IA, the median age of the audience has been 75 years old. In the last few years there have been more younger audience members as well as performers. There is hope that this music will survive well into the future.

I bid on a few records from Nauck,one of them was "Five Pennies"by Napoleon's group.That's one I'd love to have!edisonplayer

Always the 1st weekend in August, to commemorate Bix's death. Will actually be mostly in Bettendorf, IA this year (next to Davenport). Google Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival. Hop to see you there!
