Wayne Show Photos

Post by rgordon939 »

The Wayne "Mechanical Music Extravaganza" was held today inside the PAL building. Attendance was excellent. Many of the dealers I talked to said that sales were very good. I second that as it was one of the best shows I've had there in years. So here are some pictures I took. I will post them in two postings. Hope you enjoy them. If you were there I like to hear what you thought.

I wanted to mention that what looks like an ordinary, but perhaps a bit odd tabletop machine in the first photo is actually very rare and special. It's a Sonora model that features a feed screw, one of very few lateral disc machines to do so. Sonora attempted this as a way around the Victor patents, but Victor sued and won damages for patent infringement. I had seen pictures of a similar machine in Compleat Talking Machine, but this is the first one I've seen in person.

This caught my eye too, Kevin, and I pointed it out to my buddy, and commented on its significance...

I think there's also one in Fabrizio & Paul's "Illustrated Compendium" ?

There was also a Columbia with a Higham reproducer nearby...

Hey- Who had the Kirk's Pancake Flour sign??? Not phonograph, but would go great in my basement. I couldn't make the show due to a family member in hospice-- tough weekend. If anyone knows the owner of the Pancake sign, please let me know.

Thanks-

That was Wyatt's table. What an interesting Graphophone!

Drool Alert! I need a towel to mop up my keyboard. There was a lot of rare stuff in those pictures.

Hi Rich and thank you for posting photos! I sold well even though the weather did hamper things on Saturday. It was cold and I wrapped up Saturday just before noon as it started to sn...rain. I thought the crowd on Sunday was quite robust and items sold well until the end which for me was about 2:30PM.

I would like to thank fellow TMF members for dropping off horns to be rolled and straightened. My van was full of new horn work from clients for the return trip home! John
