Victor X

Can any of you guys give me a value on a Victor 10? I have one with the early motor and the bullet brake. It is in near perfect condition and plays very good. I want to list it in the Trader section, but don't have a clue as to value? It is the table top model with the filigree under the lid. I would put some pictures up, but I would have to dig it out. I forgot I even had it.
I grabbed these off the web, mine is in much better condition.

I'm sure that you're aware that the table model version of the Victrola X in either mahogany or oak is pretty scarce. Those in oak surface much less frequently than the mahogany table model X. If yours is in excellent original condition and in oak I should think it would be valued at a minimum of $400 and up. Mahogany table model X would be perhaps $350 and up in like condition. I have one each of the table model X in oak and mahogany and I wouldn't sell either one for less than those values.

I didn't notice the one I snatched was oak. Mine is mahogany. If it's only 350.00 to 400.00 I might as well keep it. I know they don't show up often. I will dig it out a snap a few pictures tomorrow.

I too, have a table model X's in mahogany and oak. Won't sell them for low prices because of their scarcity. And I really like the design surrounding the upper case as well as the XII version with the same style over the earlier plain case.

I think those prices are pretty cheap for a tabletop X. There was actually some discussion a few months ago I think about the value of this model.

And the machine in the photos above is actually mine... Has some condition issues and the wrong knobs (for now) but it's still a X in oak, couldn't pass that up.

You're probably right, Brian. When I indicated the values I offered with "and up" it's likely that most of these models would realize a value in the "and up" range. These models always generate a great deal of interest especially in complete, excellent original condition.

Agreed. I've owned a few mahogany ones in the past as well, but more recently had the luck to acquire one of the most pristine examples I've ever seen.

Judging by the turntable felt, this one played a lot of 10" records, and the owner's aim with the sound box wasn't too accurate. It's astonishing to me to see that needle gouge in the felt, and this machine is not unique in that respect. And it looks like the owner left a platter on the 'table with the lid open for about 30 years. Otherwise, the thing looks pristine. Wonder how the finish survived in such good condition?
