I posted several pictures of my XII motor a while ago. They may be useful to someone else. Here is the link that has the pictures as well as input from others: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... II&start=0

Jerry, I don't remember what the difference was, something about size - not sure anymore. I do know that the owner of that machine had another nicer XII that was missing the barrels. He searched for years and finally bought another machine to get the barrels. His second machine was the one I was considering.
I just looked in The Victor Data book and found that the XII takes 1" x 13 ½ foot springs. The other 3 spring motored machines I looked at such as the VTLA, V, etc. all use springs that are 1 ¼" wide which, I imagine would mean narrower barrels and less space between mounting posts. It also seems to me that I recall the barrels being smaller in diameter as well but not certain about that.

Well, I struck out on this one.
I was hoping that my wife's nephew, who recently relocated his family to Colorado, was close enough to pick it up and hold it for me, but that was not the case.
The sellers were in a big hurry to "unload" the machine.
Someone got a very good buy at $225.
I hope it was a forum member.

[quote]I would really appreciate comments from someone that has experience with the VV-XII motor.

Jerry,

According to the Victor parts lists, the spring barrel assembly is unique to the XII, however one of the empty barrels is shared with other models. The governor assemblies were different between the early and late XIIs, but in both cases the same assemblies were used by a large number of other common models.

Jerry,

I looked into the other parts that made up the spring barrel assembly, and it looks like with the exception of the springs, the single spring barrel and one of the two spring barrel caps, the XII motor used unique parts. I imagine a good machinist could make an assembly that would fit, but he would likely need to make the big gear from scratch. Fortunately the important specs for the gear are listed in the parts list.

I was told by the seller via email that an offer of $225 was going to be accepted last evening.
Sorry for the misinformation.
Not sure exactly what happened here, but I do know for certain that I will not bid on this machine.
